EN-Cultural heritage formation

Cultural heritage formation is understood as a social, cultural, memory and community process during which a person, life path, cultural achievement, knowledge or intellectual legacy acquires community meaning and heritage value over time.

Cultural heritage is therefore not merely a “given” and unchanged past, but a continuously reinterpreted, selected, mediated and socially re-formed network of meanings.

In this framework, women’s heritage formation is a specific field of cultural heritage formation: it examines how a woman’s life path, achievement or intellectual legacy – often after contemporary social constraints, rejection or oblivion – later becomes a cultural memory and community heritage:
